The fine print
Privacy Notice
Version 2026-10-19.1 — the same text the launcher shows before you make an account.
This notice says what the operator of this server of The Hunters ("we") keeps about you, why, and what you can do about it.
What we keep
- Your account: the name you sign in with; your password only as a one-way hash (we cannot read it); your recovery key the same way; the authenticator's secret if you turn on two-step sign-in, sealed with a key the database does not hold; when you accepted these terms and confirmed your age.
- Your sessions: for each place you are signed in, a description of the computer the game gives ("Windows · The Hunters 2026.1017"), the address it connects from, and when it was made and last used. You can see and end them in the Account window.
- Your play: your hunters and everything about them the game needs — where they are, their gear, cards, skills, quests, friends and party, fights and their replays.
- What you say in the chat: each line, who said it, when, and to whom it was whispered — so your party's and your whispers' earlier lines can be read again, and a whisper can wait for a friend who is away.
- Security records: counts of wrong passwords and codes by account name and address, kept for at most a day, to stop guessing.
- The servers' logs: the address and time of each connection to the game's front door, to run and protect the service, kept for at most 14 days.
We do not ask for your real name, email, payment details or location, and the game does not read anything else on your computer.
Why, and on what grounds
- To run the game you asked to play — your account, your sessions and your play: the agreement between us (the Terms of Service).
- To keep accounts safe and the game fair, and to fix problems — stopping guessing, stolen sessions and cheating: our legitimate interest, and every player's, in a safe and fair game.
We do not sell your data, show you advertising, or let a machine alone make decisions about you that matter.
How long
Sessions end at most 90 days after you sign in (12 hours if you did not ask to be remembered). Security records last at most a day. Chat lines are kept 3 days for lines said near others, 7 days for a party's, 30 days for whispers and 3 days for a fight's, and then deleted. Your account and hunters are kept until you close your account, and then deleted. The servers' logs and backups are kept for 14 days and then deleted.
Where, and who else
Your data is kept on the servers this game runs on and in their backups, and nowhere else. Nobody else gets it, except the companies that host our servers, who store it for us and nothing more. If you sign in through Steam, Steam tells us your Steam ID and whether you own the game.
Your rights
You can see your sessions and end them, change your password, and close your account (which deletes your account and your hunters) in the game's Account window. For anything else — a copy of your data, a correction, a question or a complaint — contact us, and we will answer within a month. Where the law gives you more rights — among them to object, and to complain to the data protection authority where you live — you have them.
Children
The game is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly keep data about them. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
When this notice changes, the game shows you the new one before you play on.
